Assistance Dog

Handlers to provide alert sounds and retrieving articles for all levels.
Dogs must be on a flat collar/harness and a lead for all leading or following exercises.
Assistance Dog Level 1
The dog must demonstrate one target from the following list and repeat three times:
Single paw, both front paws, chin, nose, pull cord.
To be carried out from at least 2m away.
Assistance Dog Level 2
The dog must demonstrate two from the following list and repeat three times:
Pick up article and place in receptacle
Pull article with cord attached, at least 2m
Demonstrate transference of a target behaviour to a vertical or raised surface
Alert handler through visual/contact behaviour to an audible tone
Show consistent following or leading position and awareness of an obstacle (each rep will be a different obstacle).
Assistance Dog Level 3
The dog must demonstrate two from the following list and repeat three times:
Retrieve article to seated handler with either: article placed on lap or paws on lap for hand delivery.
Pull open drawer and retrieve article to hand
Dog to locate and indicate door handle or empty chair for handler to physically locate
Dog to alert and take handler to a conditioned sound operated by the assessor during a 2 minute period - the dog must be off-duty/settled during the exercise.
Assistance Dog Level 4
Dog must walk in a quiet residential environment, whilst maintaining a consistent pace and position for 10 minutes and include one of the following list:
A) 2 indications of drop curbs
B) Retrieval of a dropped article
C) Sound alert

Assistance Dog Level 5
Dog to complete a 20 minute walk, including a busy main road and passing of shops and include one of the following list:
A) Indications of drop and up curbs and maintain pavement position
B) Retrieval of a named article from trainers bag
C) Sound alert - Regular and Emergency
Assistance Dog Level 6
Dog to complete a 30 minute walk in a town centre environment, including lift travel. Dog to show obstacle awareness, and to enter a shop or bank where the dog must carry out either a retrieving, indicating or alerting behaviour from Level 3.
